[At first glance, the tall young brunette doesn't seem to be doing anything. He almost looks bored. As he stands in the classroom with his gaze fixated unseeingly out the window, he almost looks like he's not having an internal life or death crisis. Did he get the note? Will he come? What will he say? What if he laughs?
Coda LaBelle, six feet tall, notoriously avoided at his school, has written a love letter to another guy for the first time. Although he's always been into guys... He's never been interested enough to pursue anyone before. However, he's acutely aware that he's never seen a guy like Hatsuya before. Really, there's no competition. He couldn't let this time pass him by. Because surely, he'd regret not making this leap for the rest of his life, right?
The young man sighs and massages his brow. It makes sense in his head, but really he just wants to crawl under a rock and die now. When will he get here? He wants to see him. Even if he says no... It will be nice to talk to him--
The door creaks open and Coda flinches, standing erect with cheeks already turning pink. This is it...!]
[It isn't as if this hasn't happened before. In truth, most of the love letters Hatsuya has read were addressed to Shuuji, but he's received a handful of his own throughout the past few years. This shouldn't be any different from his rejections in the past, but something seems a little strange. The handwriting in the brief letter was cute, sure, but why did this girl want to meet in a third floor classroom at 5:30? The sunset is already painting the sky in vibrant hues, and there's hardly anyone left at school. Maybe she wanted to be alone? But just as requested, Hatsuya is there right on time, and he opens the door without hesitation. Here goes nothing!
....But the face staring back at him is certainly not who he expected to see, and there isn't anyone else in the room. Why is he here if he doesn't even go to this school?! Great, now he's stuck with a (quite good looking) guy instead of a shy girl. What if the girl wrote to both of them? That would suck. Oh well, he may as well strike up a conversation.]
Hey! You're Melody's brother, right? What're you doing here?
[Properly awe-struck by the appearance of the love of his life, Coda is speechless for a good thirty seconds. The sunset pouring in through the large window behind him is painting Hatsuya a beautiful color, and it captures his eyes just perfectly. Oh, if only he could get a picture right now... But--]
Ah-- Uhm... [Off to a great start, Coda.] I-- Well...
[Turning a nice shade of purple, Coda turns his gaze to the side. Does he not know that he was the one who called him here?]
I...
[C'mon, just say it! Coda looks at the other boy with something similar to terror and exhileration.]
I-I called you here to say...
[Here we go!]
...Th-that I likeyoupleasewillyouconsidergoingoutwithm...e...
[Although he's.... the way he is, Hatsuya is polite enough to simply grin and wait for Coda to collect himself. He probably got lost and doesn't know how to say it! It's kind of endearing, and this whole thing isn't so bad on Hatsuya's end either, because he finally gets to look at Coda up close. Wow.... he's really handsome. So handsome that Hatsuya gets distracted and doesn't really comprehend what's being said until he's already spoken up.]
Huh? I didn't catch that--
[Wait a second. Wait just a second. Did he say that he called Hatsuya here? So he's....
[Great, he didn't catch it. Coda finally managed to say it, and he didn't even hear it? Crap... He takes a deep breath and steels himself. He can do this. He is absolutely capable of doing this. Yes, just go with it!]
U-uhm, I... [Coda gently swallows.] I've been watching you for a long time, and I, uh... [Oh no, did that sound creepy?!] Well, uh... I just...
[Wonderful, he had this big romantic speech planned and he forgot every single last word! That's spectacular! Not a single person in the world is as much of a loser as he is, Coda is sure of it.]
I...I'm in love with you.
[Well, that slipped out easier than expected. He almost says it too slowly. He's bright red now, and definitely still terrified. What he wouldn't give to turn invisible right now...]
[The unexpected swell that rises in his chest is completely unfamiliar to him. It seems like the only thing Hatsuya can do is stare with wide eyes and let the blush threatening to spread over his cheeks have its way.]
[All out of words, Coda nods, bowing his head a little nervously. He's bright red now and biting his lower lip in embarrassment. Maybe this was a mistake...]
[His ears are burning, he can't believe that he forgot to actually introduce himself! Who does that?! Probably only losers like Coda. And although Hatsuya is smiling, he's still not sure. Is he going to laugh at him, is he happy? He can't tell. Please don't laugh at him...]
Coda, then! I'm glad that I finally know your name! [The way he's grinning makes it seem like this is a completely normal conversation. He doesn't look too enamored, does he? Does he?!] I guess a handshake would be kind of awkward, huh? That's okay, they're too stiff and formal anyway.
[Coda offers his hand anyway, then quickly retracts it when Hatsuya says "too stuff". His palms are probably horrendously sweaty anyway. He settles for a terribly awkward wave to try and cover up for his blunder, but quickly regrets that as well, and finally just talks instead.]
F-finally?
[Has Hatsuya beeen watching him too? That's too good to be true, but...]
Hey, it's fine! C'mon, hold out your hand again. [And he offers his own, grinning at Coda's blunder.] Unless you'd rather do a high five instead!
["Watching him" may be a little bit of an overstatement, but Coda has definitely caught Hatsuya's eye. He's even waved to him once or twice!]
Well, I mean, I've seen you stop by the club room and stuff a bunch of times! But I never knew your name, so.... [No, he's beginning to let that uncharacteristic shyness slip into his expression! Not now!]
[Awkwardly, Coda offers his hand again. He definitely doesn't want to high five, but it would be nice to hug him... though that might seem forward... Coda feels his cheeks heating up almost immediately at the thought. He's fantasized about things like touching his hand and holding him, but... actually doing it seems like it's too good to be true!]
Ah, that's...! That's how I first saw you too...
[Wow, what a coincidence! ...Not. Coda, get your act together. At least say something cool. God damn it.]
Thought so! But you know, I never thought I'd see you up here.
[In order to hide even the slightest trace of shyness or hesitation, Hatsuya smiles even more brightly and confidently takes Coda's hand. After shaking it a few times, he reaches forward and holds the other side of Coda's hand with his free one. Now he's using both!]
[Coda just stares at their connected hands in dumbfounded silence, ears having gone completely red and brain definitely short circuiting. He blinks and manages some words, however.]
[Hatsuya is too busy trying to regain his composure to notice Coda's ears, even though he's still staring up to him and making eye contact. Although it's a little abrupt, he takes a small step forward, still grasping Coda's hands with a broad grin.]
[For a very brief second, the world seems to spin. He almost feels like he might very well faint. Is this real...? Did Hatsuya actually say yes? This isn't a dream, right? Coda stares right back down at home, feeling that if he were to look away, everything might disappear. He licks his lower lip, mouth feeling abruptly dry. His eyes seem to sparkle.]
Yeah, I'm sure of it! [The slightly nervous feeling in his chest finally quells as he lets go of Coda's hands, but he doesn't return to where he was standing before.] Unless you change your mind on me.
[In a poor attempt to calm Coda down, Hatsuya raises his hands and waves them in front of his face. However, it doesn't take him long to put them down, and once he does, the slightest bit of colour rises to his ears. Upon looking a little more closely, it's clear that a touch of shyness has made its way into his smile.]
[All Hatsuya can do is laugh under his breath. He's almost always smiling, sure, but now he definitely can't keep himself from grinning. This is endearing.]
[Coda's eyes remain trained on the floor, but Hatsuya's small laugh is infectious. He's so relieved! He managed to confess... And he wasn't rejected! That's just amazing to him. The laughter bubbles from his mouth quietly, and he covers his mouth uselessly.]

[Though he's far from used to feeling slightly shy, Hatsuya hasn't stopped smiling yet. Even Coda should be able to tell that it's a good sign.]
